I probably misunderstood the lyrics long ago. I'm not saying this one is not concrete.
OKAY. The song the way I remember it:
"Well I know what's right; I got just one light."
It rhymes? See? And it's sort of a nod to Jesus or something I think? Just one light? Get it? Makes perfect sense. To me anyway.
Now this song says "I know what's right; I got just one LIFE."
….
Not only does this not rhyme, but it makes no sense. No sense at all. You know what's right? And this somehow ties into you having just one life? What? … wait, wHAT?
Now go ahead and throw popcorn at me or rocks or whatever. I'm pretty sure the lyrics to this iconic song HAVE changed. I never really paid much attention to this fellow when he was alive though. So. I may have gotten this wrong. Maybe.
